What's it like to be in Marching Band? Click here to see what some of our marchers have to say...

Marching Band
This is the band that takes the field at half time during football season and the band that competes in UIL marching competition. It is, in reality, the combined band of LBJ. There will be members of all three bands marching on the field at the same time. The band sits together during football games and keeps the team, other students and parents entertained with catchy tunes, the fight song and the school song.

The marching band practices during the summer and after school. The after school rehearsals are critical to the marching band's performance since there is no time during the school day when all the members of the marching band are in class together.

Stand Band
Members of the "stand band" play with the marching band during athletic events (football games, pep rallies, and some basketball games) but do not march or perform during half times. Participation in the stand band is by invitation from the directors. Students with unusual scheduling conflicts might be invited to participate in the stand band. In addition, students who have a physical injury and are not able to march, or former LBJ band students who return for homecoming or other special events may be invited to participate in the stand band. If there is an away game that is outside our district, the directors may decide to take a smaller stand band instead of the entire marching band. It is important to note that no PE credit will be given for participation in the stand band.
