You will be thrilled to know that our very own LBJ Percussion Drumline outscored 25 other top-of-the-line percussion sections this weekend in Dallas! Our guys beat the two time reigning champions from Paris HS (Paris, Tx), and the 3rd place national winners in the high school division of the Percussion Arts Society. The LBJ team received raving comments from the 4 nationally recognized "drum-corp" judges.
I would like to share with you a personal letter that I sent to our Director of Fine Arts (Austin ISD), Mr. Greg Goodman. It is followed by a very special letter of congrats from Mr. Dempsey to the drumline. I'm doing this so that YOU may capture the magnitude of this great victory by our LBJ drumline. NOTE: The judges named the LBJ Pit as first place (the best of kind) winners in that caption, and the LBJ Tenors as first place (the best) winners in that caption.
Congratulations to Mr. Dempsey and Mr. Ward, directors, and ALL of the Members of the truly Award Winning Percussion Section - The ONE the ONLY --- Jaguar Drumline!

Great News from Jaguar country!
Thanks to many of you who voted earlier this week in the local "CBS- KEYE --Channel 42 drumline contest. AND, thanks for contacting your friends to vote for the Jaguar percussion line.... The Jaguars took 1st place! Now we are in the finals. We'll have to do this online voting thing ONE more time on September 6th (must wait until after halftime of that Saturday night game). This can be easy money for our 2008 program! If we get the most votes of the final three bands, we'll receive a large "First Place" check at a halftime presentation of either a Dallas Cowboys or Houston Texans game. We gotta get EVERYBODY ready (hopefully YOUR contacts as well) to vote for the Jags in massive numbers! OK?
